Department Description
Physical Therapy at The Pain Treatment Center of the Bluegrass focuses on pain control through movement. Patients receive an individualized program beginning with symptom control and progressing to conditioning and strengthening. The staff works with all levels of patients from those with severe physical limitations to the fully functioning individual.
The patient's program often includes:
- Functional capacity assessment
- Stretching and strengthening exercise
- Aerobic activities
- Work hardening
- Injury prevention
- Goals achievement
Patients referred to Physical Therapy:
The Physical Therapy staff meet with the patient to discuss personal and physical goals and to perform a functional assessment. An individualized perogram is established.
Work Injury Response
A one-on-one intense exercise and rehabilitation program is designed with emphasis on returning back to work. The program is established with a time frame for the accomplishment of goals. Work hardening and rehabilitation is directed by physicians at the Center coordinating physical therapy, medical management, injective therapy and behavioral medicine.
The Workers Compensation Committee consists od medical and administrative staff which meet regularly to reciew the worker's case. The treatment plan is monitored and mondifications are communicate to the company representative in order to achieve an expeditious resolution for the patient and his representatives.
Manual Therapy
A manual therapist is a physical therapist that has completed advanced
education in specific areas. It is the highest level of training for
a physical therapist. Research has shown that complex problems like
back pain are treated more successfully through a multidisciplinary
approach, involving the best aspects of many complementary back specialists.
The strength of our Pain Treatment Center lies in the medical expertise
brought by a variety of complementary specialists. Our clinicians have
been trained by recognized worldwide as leaders in the treatment of
persons with pain.
